"an empire had been defeated; old wars has ended and new ones had broken out"

Khaled Hosseini describes a continuous cycle of the society. After "an empire had been defeated," the war caused in order to defeat the empire will continue. There will always be conflict within a community and rebellion will arise. Because there were previous examples of turmoil, many people believe they are able to create a new society out of greed. This shows a consequence of war, the greed to overturn a society in order to create a better reality for oneself  forcing others around in the society to suffer for their greed. This also demonstrates the social issue of power within the society. The endless cycle of war and conflicts revolves around the greed of humans. In order to to be at the top of the social hierarchy, many turn against each other for example in the novel, originally two groups allied to overturn the government but after the government was overturned, the two groups turned against each other for the supreme power over the country.

  1. Your analysis of the line "There will always be conflict within a community and rebellion will arise" was very insightful because there would always be a world of power where peace has no way to step in. Even if there was peace, there would always be a person who thinks differently and want to set the world into what they want, that he thinks will be best.
